Welcome to the CSU Transitional Kindergarten Community!
Our Community Members
The CSU Transitional Kindergarten Community is a an online meeting place for CSU faculty and educators across California who are preparing teachers for Transitional Kindergarten programs and are involved in the state’s Transitional Kindergarten practices and policies. The TK Community is part of a CSU systemwide project supported by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
The goals of the project are: (1) to cultivate developmentally appropriate preparation approaches that equip future Transitional Kindergarten teachers with the expertise needed to educate young children effectively and (2) to share with educators and organizations involved in in-service preparation of current teachers and administrators for Transitional Kindergarten, in order to enhance the success of the work of each entity
Promoting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
The CSU Transitional Kindergarten Community is based upon the concept of a “teaching commons” whereby the community of CSU early childhood education, child development, and other faculty and partners in school districts and a range of organizations can together advance preparation of Transitional Kindergarten teachers through sharing of ideas, practices, information, and resources.
Another CSU-MERLOT Partnership
CSU faculty and partners engaged in the preparing of Transitional Kindergarten teachers can share high quality resources and make them available through this web site and through the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT). MERLOT provides CSU faculty an opportunity to "publish" online, to develop comprehensive personal collections of valuable resources, and to make contributions to this growing digital library.
